Strategic importance:

This high-impact project involves upgrading the Kalewa–Yagyi road section in western Myanmar’s Sagaing region, a key corridor in the India-Myanmar-Thailand trilateral highway network. Strategically, the project is a vital part of India’s Act East policy, designed to boost regional connectivity, trade, and engagement with Southeast Asia through advanced cross-border infrastructure.
